AFP has no respect for Israeli’s

The Australian Federal Police, sent to Israel to investigate the ongoing trial by media relating to the Dubai assassination of Hamas gun runner, Mabhouh, have demonstrated quite clearly that they have no respect for Israeli’s whatsoever.

Only a few hours after arriving, the members of the AFP task force, who are in Israel seeking to ascertain if Israel had stolen Australian passports, managed to hit a cyclist with their car – and then failed to stop: a classic “hit and run” (something they would lose their jobs for and face jail time over, had they done it “back home” in Australia).

From The Australian:

In an extraordinary turn of events, a car screeched out of the car park under the Australian Embassy in Tel Aviv and hit a woman riding a bicycle, who was not seriously injured.

But the car did not stop, instead continuing on its high-speed journey.

The female cyclist who was hit was not badly injured, however she has asked that she at least get an apology and a new bike wheel, from the Australian government.

The woman, Oshra Bar, told one media outlet last night: “I want an apology and a new wheel. I was hit and I kind of bounced.”

This incident highlights the utter disrespect for Israel and Israeli’s that the AFP officers have taken with them, on this investigation. Can you imagine an Australian police officer hitting a cyclist here in Australia, and then driving off without stopping? Imagine the media furore? The officer would unquestionably lose their job, at the very least.

The very fact that they felt that because it was “only an Israeli (Jew)”, they did not need to stop and provide assistance or even basic first aid, shows an extremely serious character flaw in either the officers themselves or the institution they serve. At the very least, it shows that they feel the laws they are sworn to uphold do not apply to them, personally. To say the least, they are extremely lucky Oshra Bar was not seriously injured.

I’d like to hear if Kevin Rudd thinks this is the “act of a friend” or not?

    Don’t be so hypocritical!
….And what about the illegal Israeli settlers attitude and animosity towards the Palestinians.

Before you use the common retort… “Anti-Semetic.. blah blah” Wake up and smell the coffee, I’m sure the world is finally waking up to the injustices caused by an evil ideology

And don’t you dare criticize the AFP – without thinking about how many countless Palestinians are treated barbarically by your fellow mates.

Don’t like Australia – you are welcome to leave

So if I understand your logic correctly, “criminals they are”, it’s ok to run over an unrelated woman on a bike, even if you’re a cop, because someone else who isn’t that lady on the bike, may or may not have mistreated some other person?

The only reason an asshat like you expects the “common retort… “Anti-Semetic.. blah blah”” is because you are and anti-semitic and it clearly shows in your belligerence.

Later, mate. I got a feeling you won’t be back soon.

Criminals They Are – I love living in Australia because we are a free country. No doubt you like living here as well because of the freedom. Taking that freedom and using it to attack anyone who is Jewish is misguided and shows your ignorance. Your logic is flawed and does little to mask your rabid anti semitism.
You need to leave and go and live with the Arabs in the middle east who you so clearly want to support.
Its easy being an armchair critic isn’t it you low life piece of dirt.

As for the Arabs – (Palestinians) – You reap what you sow. They made their bed of nails and now they must lie on it and suffer. Go join them to show your sympathy.

    “Dovi”,

I am not sure that the attitude you express is the best one. Ideally, a situation of tolerance is preferable and I for one have no desire to see anyone “suffer”.

“Criminals They Are” expresses a racist outlook on life and I am not sure emulating that is a good thing.

Two points – it isn’t ‘Israeli’s’. That would beg the question ‘Israeli’s what?’. ‘Israelis’ is the plural of Israeli. (said with a smile and please don’t tell me how grammatically incorrect my post below is… I know :) )

Second, the driver was a native Israeli according to Jerusalem Post report. The AFP, if the story is true, very definitely ought to have made their driver stop and report the incident. I tend not to put my trust in newspaper reports – there is always an angle! Let’s not let the facts get in the way of a good story.

And just because some want to believe that because Israelis supposedly commit these crimes against Palestinians, that it is ok for anyone else to commit crimes against Israelis … give me a break!

Finally, racism is abhorrent and I choose not to be a racist, no matter what is thrown at me :)

ummmmmmm who was the one accusing the press of “trial by media” in relation to the passport affair???
The woman didn’t even fall off her bike. She said that she only bounced. They probably looked in the mirror to see if she was ok.
The AFP are very professional and deserve more respect seeing as THEY, not israel’s, are the police protecting YOU from national security threats.

Anonymous – You accuse us of trial by media. Where do you get your information from the same sources that are conducting the trial by media. How do you know the women was not hurt and only “bounced”. In the end it doesn’t matter what happened to her. If the same situation had occured in Australia they would have stopped.
As for the whole passport scandal… Dig around and do some reading and you will see that blaming Israel is not as clear cut as you would like.
How come 2 of the assasins returned to Iran after the assasination ? How did the Dubai police know that 2 assassins returned to Iran ? Start asking the right questions and you wil get some sensible answers instead of the regurgitated drivel you feel the need to repeat.

It says she bounced in the article that you linked to!!! It also says that she was not injured!!! Try reading it. The AFP are investigating it and you are making something huge out of this non-issue and making stupid claims against the AFP. They are the ones protecting you.
And anyway the driver of the car was an employee of the embassy so the AFP probably weren’t even looking.

It makes no difference. I don’t care if Mikey Mouse was driving the car. If that incident happened in Australia, there would be media hell to pay. But because it happened in Israel, no one here cares. That is the text book definition of a double standard.

I also don’t care if she was not injured. Try tomorrow hitting a pedestrian and not injuring them and driving off – and then claiming it doesn’t matter because they were not injured. See how that one works out for you in court.

To say the AFP weren’t looking is a joke. If a car you are in hits someone or something, believe me – you notice.

It was reported in the Australian newspaper! It was an incident overseas that didn’t happen to Australians so obviously it didn’t get as much attention. To say that the AFP have no respect for Israelis is just ignorant. I’d bet that you wouldn’t make much of an uproar if Israeli officials here did the same thing and wouldn’t devote an article about how much Israelis disrespect Australians.

    Anonymous,

    I am Australian, not Israeli.

There is a difference between an article in the Australian “online only” and “media hell to pay”.
