This week the Maccabean has carried news that Kevin Blitz’s time as the President of PHC is coming to an end.
For the past 3 or so years, Kevin has put in a stirling effort in taking the Perth Hebrew Congregation forward, by devoting a huge amount of time and effort to seeing that the shule has been able to provide a wide range of services to the community.
These services include day care facilities for children, a modern mikva, one of the best Judaica gift and bookshops in the state, not to mention a shule which offers three minyanim, every day of the year (to mention but a few).
Kevin’s leadership has also seen the shule complete work on a security fence and obtain grants to go ahead with the development of first rate play equipment for the children of Gan Katan.
Of course these results could not have been achieved without fantastic support from the rest of the board, Rabbi Freilich, many volunteers and members of the PHC and the community, plus of course the staff of each of the PHC’s various sections and these people should also be appreciated by the greater Jewish community.
None the less, I personally believe Kevin should be congratulated for his efforts, in what has probably been a fairly tough and thankless job, at times and wish him well in future ventures.
